Espacios Latentes is a gathering of AI thinkers andbuilders at ITAM, Mexico City. The call was open to students, alumni, practitioners, academics and startups.
What we are looking for
- How something works, actually explained.
- How you built something, including what went wrong.
- A project or a demo.
- A lesson learned that would help someone else.
- A poster.
It does not need to be original research, and it does not need to be published. The bar is that people learn something, not that they are impressed.
How proposals were submitted
Proposals were received atcontacto@espacioslatentes.orgwith:
- Your name and a line about yourself.
- A working title.
- One paragraph on what you would cover.
- Whether you would rather present in Spanish or English.
Dates and format
- Deadline
- Sunday 13 September 2026, 23:59 (Mexico City time)
- We will let you know
- By 21 September at the latest
- Length of each talk
- 15 minutes, including time for questions
- Slots
- Around four presentations
Proposals were read as they arrived. Selected participants would have about a month to prepare.
How we choose
There are four slots and we expect more proposals than that, so we will be saying no to good work. Here is what your proposal is read against:
- People should learn something concrete. By the end, someone should be able to do or understand something they could not before. A product demo does not clear this bar; explaining how you built it does.
- First-hand. You built it, measured it, or it broke on you. We are not looking for summaries of other people's work.
- It fits in 15 minutes. An idea that needs forty minutes, squeezed into fifteen, does not land. Better an idea the right size.
